General Red Scare FAQ's

Q:
How much does it cost to become a member of Red Scare?

How do I become a member of the Red Scare Executive Board?

A:  At the beginning and end of each Academic year (usually in September and April), Red Scare elections are held.  The April elections are to fill all positions except for the First-Year Liaison.  This position, along with any unfilled positions, will then be included with the September election.  More information will be passed along to each Red Scare member through the Red Scare e-mail list and http://www.udaytonredscare.com as the elections draw nearer.

Spirit Point FAQ's

Q:
What is a Spirit Point?

A:  A Spirit Point is a unit awarded to those who attend home UD athletic events throughout the year.  The number of points an individual has accumulated affects the location of his or her assigned seat for basketball ticket distribution.

Q:
How do I earn Spirit Points?

A:  To earn Spirit Points, simply attend any of the home events for Football, Volleyball, Men's & Women's Soccer, Men's & Women's Basketball, Baseball, or Softball.  When you arrive at these events, find the Red Scare Officer that is scanning for each particular event, most times located near the student entrance or student seating section for the particular event.  The Officer will then scan your UD ID card and you will receive your points within the next 2 days.

Q:
How many Spirit Points are available at each athletic event?

A:  Spirit Point values are as follows:
10 Points - Volleyball, Men's & Women's Soccer, Men's Basketball, Baseball, Softball
20 Points - Football
30 Points - Women's Basketball

**These point values are subject to change at any time.  For information about events worth more points (such as kickoff events or those events vs Xavier) please look for e-mails from Red Scare or check http://www.udaytonredscare.com

Q:
How do I check my Spirit Points?

A:  To check your Spirit Point totals, visit http://spiritpoints.udayton.edu. If this if your first time visiting the site, please log-in at the top using your Novell username and password.  After logging in, click on the link "SPS Home" located on the page's left frame.  The following page will display all Spirit Points earned for that particular period.

Q:
I am missing Spirit Points, what should I do?

A:  If you are missing Spirit Points, please contact Red Scare through Red.Scare@notes.udayton.edu.  In this
e-mail, please explain the situation with an explanation of the problem (i.e. I am missing Spirit Points for the XYZ event that I attended on January 1).  However, Red Scare is not responsible for missing points.  It is the responsibility of each member to check their points following athletic events attended.  The points from each event will be uploaded no later than 2 days following an event.  If, after 2 days, your Spirit Points do not show up on http://spiritpoints.udayton.edu, you should e-mail Red Scare as instructed above.  Each member has 5 days following an event to check his or her points and contact Red Scare about any errors.  6 days following an event, the points are final and no point compensations will be made.

Q:
I cannot attend a sporting event. Can I give a friend my ID so I can still receive Spirit Points?

A:  No.  You must be in attendance for the athletic event to receive Spirit Points.

Q:
I am a band member/athlete, and I cannot attend athletic events. How do I get Spirit Points?

A:  Please check back for more information

Q:
How do I sign up for and receive tickets for athletic events?

A:  For all events EXCEPT Men's Basketball:  Bring your student ID along to the gate of of the athletic event you are attending.  When you show your ID at the ticket booth/table, you will be given a ticket free.

For Men's Basketball ONLY:  There are two ways to receive tickets for Men's Basketball games through two different types of vouchers:  BLUE and GREEN
BLUE VOUCHERS: Before the beginning of basketball season, Red Scare and the UD Athletic Department/Ticket Office will sell Red ticket vouchers.  These vouchers usually range from $25 to $30.  By purchasing these vouchers, you now have ticket priority over those with the Green vouchers.  Tickets are distributed in sets of two or three games.  From 12:01AM on Monday until 11:59PM on the Thursday before each distribution, groups will be able to register through http://spiritpoints.udayton.edu.  To do this, visit the page and login at the top using your Novell username and password.  Then click on "SPS Home" located on the left hand margin.  You will then arrive at the Spirit Points headquarters.  Towards the top of the page, there will be a button with the text
"Add New Ticket Distribution" - click on this button.  On the following page, if you are the first person in your group to register, choose the distribution date from the drop down menu under the "Create a new group" menu.  Then, fill in a password of your choice and click "Create Your Group."  The following page will confirm your registration for the selected distribution.  At this time, write down your group ID number and password.  Give this information to those who you wish to sit with at the basketball games.  Following the closing of registration, time slots will be assigned based on the average number of Spirit Points for your group.  Also at this time, the ranking number will be displayed on the SPS Homepage.  On the date of distribution, arrive at the location specified by an e-mail from Red Scare NO LATER THAN your time slot.  Arrive at this location with the vouchers from each individual in your group, your student ID, and your group ID number and password.  You will then receive tickets for the specified basketball games.

GREEN VOUCHERS:  Students also have the option of receiving free vouchers.  These vouchers can be picked up from the Kennedy Union Ticket Office.  The date of release will be advertised by the Red Scare e-mail and http://www.udaytonredscare.com.  Using these vouchers, an individual will be able to pick up any remaining tickets the Monday following a ticket distribution.  GREEN VOUCHERS DO NOT GUARANTEE A STUDENT TICKETS FOR ANY GAME.
